BRAIN CANCER – RISK FACTORS
By Antin. Like other cancers, brain cancer is caused by abnormalities or mutations in genes. Until now the exact cause of brain cell mutations that result in cancer is not known. However, there are certain risk factors that may be associated with brain cancer. These include:
· Family history of brain cancer Some types of brain cancer occurs in same family. These types of brain cancer are thought to be inherited.
· Immune system disorder Impaired immune system can be present at birth or acquired (because of other diseases or treatments). People with immune system disorder may be at risk for brain cancer.
· Environmental Factors According to American Cancer Society, exposure to radiation has been established as a risk factor for brain cancer. Exposure to chemicals may be a risk factor for brain cancer.
