Skin Cancer - Treatments

There are some options of surgery treatment for skin cancer:
· Simple excision: surgery treatment for skin cancer that removes the tumor along with some healthy skin around the tumor location.
· Shave excision: A medical procedure to removes skin cancer using a small blade to shave off the tumor.
· Mohs micrographic surgery: surgery treatment that removes skin cancer in thin layer. Each layer of skin cancer removed is checked under a microscope for cancer cells. This surgery treatment will continue until there are no more cancer cells in the removed layer. Commonly used to remove skin cancer from the face because only a small amount of healthy tissue is removed.
· Electrodessication and curettage: The skin cancer cells are destroyed using special instruments that freezing them with liquid-nitrogen.
· Laser surgery: surgery treatment for skin cancer that uses a laser beam to remove the tumor.
· Electrodessication and curettage: The skin cancer will treat in two steps. First, skin cancer removed with a currette - a sharp, spoon-shaped medical instrument. Then, the area of skin cancer treated with a needle-shaped electrode that sends out an electric current to stop the bleeding and destroys the cancer cells that remained.
